Today was a great day with our students here in Ohrid. Here’s a brief look at what our day held for us. No video today, will try and post the final one tomorrow.
Prayer Walking in the AM || This morning, our team split up into 3 different teams and covered parts of this city in prayer. We walked about the town, talked with locals (or at least attempted to), prayed for them and for an advancement of the kingdom here in Ohrid. To give you a glimpse of the spiritual state of this place, we have more people at The Summit than the entire country of Macedonia has in believers. In Ohrid, there are no churches; but the team on the ground here has a great vision and strategy for seeing that change. Glad we get to be a part of that in some way.
House Church || Our students got to experience “church” in a completely different way today; in the living room of a house. We sang a few songs, spent some time in prayer, and devoted ourselves to the teaching of God’s word. It was beautiful, and I think life changing for some of our students in many different ways. Today I prayed that the team here in Ohrid would see 30 house churches planted over the next 10 years. Currently there are no house churches (besides the one that the team has in their home.)
Basketball || The fellas went out to a local basketball court and played some ball. To say that the Macedonians are slightly competitive would be an understatement. They love to play basketball and they love to argue about every single call as well! It was quite an experience.
Traditional Macedonian Dance Class || The girls went out with a few national girls they’ve met over the past few days to a Macedonian dance class. They had a BLAST, learned the dance of a culture, and continued great conversations with their new friends throughout the day.
Sipped Coffee….Again || Yep, it’s a tough life, but someone’s gotta do it.
Thanks for the update! Sounds great…still praying…
Thank you for keeping us informed. It is always great to hear from you. We can’t wait to see each day how God is using you as you plant seeds for Him.
Are you in Ohrid, Macedonia? The legend says that there were 365 churches in its vicinity. Nowadays its called Slavic Jerusalem with near to 100 churches? Or you in some other town?
Kiro, obviously he doesn’t consider our churches, some of them over a thousand years old, to be real churches. And the Orthodox Christian religion, so much older and richer than Protestantism, to be a real religion.
How condescending it is for someone to come to the most sacred town in a country with such a long Christian tradition, and to say that there are no churches, even though they are all around him.
I’m an atheist, and even I’m offended.
Kiro and MM, please forgive me. When I write this blog for our parents back home in Protestant Churches, that is exactly what I mean…protestant churches that meet in homes.
The city of Ohrid is absolutely beautiful and has some amazingly beautiful Orthodox churches in the city. It’s some of the most beautiful buildings i have ever seen.
I hope that helps in your understanding of the audience to whom I was writing and my heart behind it.
Let me know if I can clarify anything else for you.
